I'm off to see Dan Pink at an event sponsored by Codeworks down at the Sage this evening. It's a book launch and a lot of the local IT community will be there swilling ale. Should be good.

Google adsense is now approved so that will be coming to the site shortly. I've taken various steps to get the framework for SEO in place but more needs to be done for this and it's about halfway there. The Mailchimp integration has been tested and the mail lists are working as an opt-in list. I got an email from Amazon that the books I ordered to give me more technical reference material are on their way for the end of the week.

I was supposed to go out for a beer but I ended up putting Twitter integration on the site and support for Mailchimp Newsletters. I think the pubs will have shut now, more's the pity.

The site now supports the 'AddToAny' toolbar for integration with Digg, Facebook etc. Another feature I will be offering as an 'out of the box' feature on my websites. Next stop Google Analytics Integration.

As the beer was out of commission, I started drinking whisky. The powerful effect of Bells inspired a vision. I must embrace the crap that I call Twitter if I'm going to make any money from WEB 2.0 stuff.

About half of the work is done now to add a human resources section to the site. It's not that there are suddenly a load of vacancies at Open Systems, just that I'd like it to be out of the box functionality in my websites along with e-commerce facilities. The human resources functionality has been put together with the Content Creation kit and the Views module.

After a bit of a hiatus and a prolonged period of messing around in boats I'm back into developing the site. I'must working on adding integration with MailChimp now and then some experiments with the content creation kit and am planning to put togetther a low-cost e-commerce solution for small businesses.
 

Well after messing around with drupal for the best part of 24 hours (OK I did go to the gym a couple of times and sleep too) I seem to have got the basic framework for a site set up with just a few glitches. I shall write up a tutorial at some stage covering the installation. The O'Reilly book 'Using drupal' has been invaluable along the way and it should be further help in the next few days to get some real functionality into the site.
